Landing pages are used to sell products or services or to collect leads, while blog posts attract people looking for information more than anything else. Which is better? This question has no specific answer but depends on the needs of entrepreneurs or marketers which one they prefer more currently. But let’s take a look – what is a landing page exactly.

What is a landing page?
A landing page is a standalone web page that’s designed to persuade visitors to take a specific action, such as subscribing to your email list or buying a product. Landing pages are a very important part of a good marketing strategy.
Hence, landing page can be used either to collect email addresses or leads or can be used directly to sell products. It’s very important to make your landing pages optimized and provide good workflow to the customers. And for that you can test them through A/B testing method and stick with the winner. Barack Obama’s team executed 500 A/B tests over the course of 20 months. And testing increased sign-up conversions by 161% and donation conversions by 49%.
Let’s look at few of the landing pages that can be good examples to collect leads or sell products.
Let’s start with different types of lead capture landing pages first. Then later we will talk about sales letter landing pages.

A lead capture landing page is used to collect email addresses from people who visit your website. This type of landing page typically contains a form that visitors can fill out in order to subscribe to a company’s email list. Or receive more information about their product or service.
-Squeeze page:
A squeeze page is a type of landing page that’s designed to convince visitors to subscribe to your email list. This type of landing page typically contains one or more opt-in forms where visitors can enter their email address in order to receive more information about your product or service.
-Contact Us:
Contact us landing page is a type of lead capture (lead generation) landing page. This type of landing page typically contains an opt-in form where visitors can enter their email address in order to receive answer to their queries.
-Free Download Opt-in Page:
Download pages are types if webpages that allow users to download files, such as free pdf, cheatsheets or videos, or e-books etc. in return for their info such as email addresses and names or phone # etc. Most of the time this page acts like getting your feet wet type situation. So that consumer can get a feel of the product or service being offered.

-Free trial landing page:
This type of landing page can be a free trial to the software such as auto-responders or music or books etc. For example Audible is a good example:

-Facebook landing page:
A Facebook landing page is a special type of landing page that’s designed to be used on Facebook. This type of landing page typically contains an image or video, along with a form. So that visitors can enter their email address in order to subscribe to a list or receive more information about a product or service.
-Join a Waitlist landing page:
This landing page is mainly for people to join a waitlist for a product or service of a company who have not released a product or service yet. But people are curious to join waitlist to purchase or to know about it.

This types of pages typically contains an opt-in form. So that visitors can enter their email address in order to receive more information about your webinar.
Sales letter landing pages
-Product Landing Page:
A product landing page is a type of landing page that’s used to sell products or services. This types of pages typically contains all the information about the product. And info regarding testimonials, guarantee and person or company behind the product etc. Beside that, it can have a form too, where visitors can enter their information in order to purchase a product or service. Or it can lead to checkout page after showing all the info about the product.
-Checkout Landing Page:
As the name suggests, a checkout landing page is mainly used to checkout. This type of landing page always contains a form where visitors can enter their information such as name, credit card and shipping etc. in order to purchase a product or service.
Conclusion
As you can see, there are many types of landing pages. But the most common ones are lead capture pages, free trial pages and product landing pages. It’s important to have a single call-to-action button on your landing page. Because a company tested that a single call-to -action button can increase conversion rate by 62% . As many call to action button on a landing page can confuse the consumers. And they will hesitate to take any action. If you’re looking to collect email addresses from people who visit your website, then a lead capture page is the best type of landing page for you. If you’re looking to offer a free trial of your product or service, then a free trial landing page is the best type for you.
And if you’re looking to sell products or services online, then a product landing page is the best type for you. Whichever type of landing page you choose to use, make sure that it’s designed to meet your specific needs.
